I wanted to make a note today about a little phenomenon I've noticed among Mac rumor mongers and speculators. It's the “Steve never really liked the Mac and now he's going to steve it” rant. It showed up when Apple bought NeXt and Steve pulled off a coup to take the reigns away from Gil-the-pill Armenio. Now that Steve's back he's going to steve the Mac. (Steved: a cute way of referring to a project that has been axed by Apple's mercurial, if fricken brilliant, CEO). Well he didn't, he steved the Newton.

Anybody remember the Newton? Man those things were cool, if a little on the chubby side.

Now Apple has split into two separate divisions and people are starting to wonder again if Steve's going to kill the Mac. I even read one columnist who remembers back in the day when Apple had the Apple ][, Lisa and Macintosh divisions and Steve said it was because it's easier to shut down a division, which is what happened to the ][ and little Lisa (sort of a bigger version of the original mac with slightly different software).

So suddenly now Apple's going to once again kill the Mac, move the software to x86 hardware and focus on iPods and other digital devices. Baloney! Steve makes a very big deal of how important it is for Apple to have integrated hardware/software offerings and I couldn't agree more. I don't get it. Where do people get this stuff?

Besides everybody knows this is really just a prep move for when Apple's third new devision the Mac | \ / becomes public.

We'll see how long my mood holds. I am at work after all . I was impressed by the number of people who have subsequently added their own red devil usa maps like my own above. I've been to a small chunk of these United States, but between the rest of you we've just about seen it all. Although I don't know if I saw Alaska on anyone's map. I'll have to look again.

Shaw, if you read this, I think your phone crapped out on you last night. In any event good talking with you.

This was definitely a weekend of checking in with the friends from all over and that was great. I saw Pete, , , , and talked to on the phone as referenced above. I hardly see any of these upstanding gentlemen anymore so that was just outstanding. I also got some housework done which was way overdue and is followed up with the need for more. Alright time to get back into it and get some serious labor going on round the office.

I've been way to wound up lately waiting for potential new job to call. I don't know that I'll want to hear from them when they do as I don't think I'm going to get it, although I really want it. Perhaps even enough to pass the other thing I was looking at in August if it becomes available. I'll have to see how a summer would treat me at this place. Should I even be so lucky… bah I'm going insane.

Some might consider this inflammatory, but I just think the overall thread was funny and I had to share.

I love it when people get offended by other people. It makes so much sense it lights me up like a x-mas pumpkin. Anyone who's interested as to the meaning of all this randomness can read the last couple of posts of and tell me if they think they have anything to do with each other. Personally I think it was a bit out of line for Danny to attack the wounded bird that is Kerry in that first post for not realizing the effects of her words, but she did just respond by calling him and every other single guy she knows completely unattractive even though again, that wasn't her intention nor probably even what she means, but that's OK, I love it when my friends fight, really it's the greatest thing since sliced limbs (man I gotta see Vol. 2!). Obviously I don't have enough going on at work, except where I do and I just am ranting here to vent a bit. Which is what this lj always seems to be about. Anybody wanna hear about how I potentially fucked up at work on Monday? No? Hello? Marzipan? Hello. Well anyway. I got love for everybody and I wish they'd show a little love–of the completely platonic type–for each other. I 'spose I coulda written my earlier critique of people beating on each other in a different manner that was more positavative (Gdub inspired wording). Sorry.

BTW I ate at Kahn's yesterday and paid royally for stuffing myself royally. Oh to have a cast-iron stomach… I ended up stopping off at Dyno's new location to umm… tour the facilities. You would think a nice brand new restaurant would have a nice new restauroom… Well it did have an auto-flush toilet. Back to paying for my sins.
