Deleting the Terminal Application makes the baby Jesus cry

Seriously you guys! Do not delete the Terminal.app from your Utilities folder. I realize none of you use OS X, and therefor this is a moot point, but seriously! One of the students here at the U's 1-Help line just took a call from a guy who uses SSH and Pine, but was mixed up enough to delete his frickin' terminal.app (all of 700k). Meanwhile, Apple assumes you won't delete such an essential file and therefore only installs it as part of the basic OS X install.

(OK I started this post yesterday and the above was as far as I got before I had to go work on something else. Here's the rest:)

The terminal debacle resulted in a multi-hour (hell now mult-day) attempt to reinstall his OS and restore all his settings. Bleck!

On a cooler note: I saw Bruce Campel walk by yesterday on his way to a book signing at the Coffman Union at the U. I didn't particularly feel like putting up 25 bucks just to wait in a 250+ person line to get his autograph, but it was neat none-the-less to have him walk by. I couldn't decide if it was him or not (figuring I just wanted to see him since I knew he was on campus), so I kept looking over as he past with is-that-Bruce-Campell look, and he sorta smiled and nodded on his way by as if to say, “yep that's me.” I got the people I was talking with to turn around and confirm that it was indeed Brisco County Jr, Elvis etc. walking away from us and was generally glad I didn't go so far as to bug him on his way to dealing with a large group of fans even if it would have been cool to say hello.

So remember kids:

“That was just pillow talk baby.”

Whale of a tale…

Bah, terrible subject line, but a wonderful day! So far Amber and I have been living it up here in the Pacific Northwest. We've had fine meals, stayed in great hotels and generally relaxed quite a bit. We rode the Victoria Clipper up from Seattle on Monday and yesterday checked out the Buchart Gardens for most of the afternoon. Today we went whale watching and saw the business end of a Humpback Whale. I'm waiting in the hotel lobby now for Amber to change so we can catch a bus to our next destination. We're going big on accomodations and such, but not necessarily on travel. Oh well, them's the breaks. Just thought I'd take a second to catch everyone up. Talk to you folks later, eh?
