Quick show of hands

Just curious as to whether or not anyone will be journeying to Northfield this weekend to see us play the Cow. Any takers so far?

On a completely unrelated note, I'm finally settled in enough at work to be tired this afternoon and ready to go home prior to 5. It was bound to happen at some point, but I stand by this job generally kicking ass. Although it should be noted that Shawn should move up here and work on the development side of things, because they could seriously use the help. Shawn? Are you listening? Seriously. Anyhow, aside from that maybe I could quick do a top ten of some kind… or maybe a top 5 (man is tired):

Top 5 Places to eat lunch around campus:

#5 Chipotlé/Burrito Loco:
Depends which side of campus I want to walk to for a tasty burrito. Burrito Loco might be a slightly better deal and they include chips with your Burrito for free.

#4 Erbert and Gerberts:

The other JJ's I like their bread a little better I think and they are a bit closer to the office.

#3 Brueger's Bagels:
Pleasant place to read the paper over the lunch break and also “Mmmmm… Herby Turkey…”

#2 Big Ten:

Really good toasted samaches and fries with a daily special where a side of fries is less than chips. A good deal for a good meal.

#1 Village Wok:

That's right fella's I've been sold. Although I'm down to buying lunch only once or twice a week it's quite often at the Wok for the lunch special C. Sweet and Sour chicken with an egg roll and rice. Nummy, nummy.

Honorable mention:

Jimmy John's:

A long-standing favorite place to grab a samach and on the opposite side of campus from where I normally go when I go somewhere for Lunch so it adds spice, but the bread doesn't compete with E & G's

Subway:

Ate there all the time at previous jobs. Have been known to stop by the one in Dinkytown.

Wish they were here:

The Subhouse:

There's one in Hudson, Hastings and Redwing. Really fricking good samaches. Don't know what else to tell you.

Alright, now that I'm tired and hungry I'll catch y'all later.

My Hero

Don't know what else to say…

This is just funny, but it also makes a point. You can't let people screw you. Even he's dumbass for buying the software in the first place, even if he should done a buy-it now you must be an ed user blah blah blah at his purchase price, or gone to U bookstore management before ebaying the software, hell even if he had lost instead of winning, you just can't let a big company wave their legal department in your face–essentially because they can–and get away with it.

If anybody has seen “Beavis and Butthead Do America” then you should remember the title of my post from the movie. Regardless… I'm posting this from the hotel in Seattle after going to a very lovely wedding that was in fact between two women. Aside from that and the fact that it was outdoors with a cello instead of organ/piano it was fairly standard wedding fair.

Nice reception food.
Horrible reception DJ.

Since these were Amber's family friends, I didn't really know anybody except the brides (they took us for ice cream when we were out here on our honey moon).

Umm other than that. I was in Okiboji IA a few weekends ago for the G. Mother-in-law's 80-somethingth birthday and waited with my excellent Brother-in-law for the ladies to shop in a place that included “Whiskey Dick's Liquors”. Make of that what you will. Other oddities to appear as I remember them.

Bands eh?

(Frank) asked a question and I decided to answer over here as well (although anyone who reads this probably also reads Franky V's journal as well but whatever you get it twice).

My top 5 bands living or dead to have open for Barcodeblue (until we think of something else to call ourselves) Friday September 23rd, 2005 at the Contented Cow would be:

love cars (Is anybody really suprised by this?)

Amateur Love (They set a good mood as an opener)

The Jets (Ok, I might be in a bit of a humor right now.)

Soul Asylum (Alright I'm on a local kick…)

Matthew Sweet (I'm too lazy to look up a link, but you know who he is…)

…and yes that's right Barcodeblue is playing at The Contented Cow Friday September 23rd. I'm not sure on timing yet, but music would probably start towards 8 or 9pm. Lineup: Pete, Ben and Drew.

Man is almost as excited as Dan must be these days…
